Explosion at Ukrposhta branch: five employees injured while checking parcels

An explosion occurred at a Ukrposhta branch during a routine parcel inspection. This was announced by the company's CEO Igor Smelyansky.

According to him, the incident occurred when security officers were checking parcels for prohibited items. During the inspection, one of the packages exploded.

«The control system worked. Thanks to this, we managed to detect and seize another dangerous parcel,» Smelyansky said.

As a result of the explosion five employees were injured, who received injuries of varying degrees. They are being provided with the necessary medical care.

Police, explosives experts and the Security Service of Ukraine are working at the scene. The causes of the incident are being established.

Ukrposhta stressed that all parcels are checked for prohibited items, including explosives, weapons and pyrotechnics. The company urged customers not to send dangerous or unknown substances.
