Government adopts solutions to stabilise the power system and improve the situation with electricity
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko said that the government had adopted a number of decisions aimed at improving the situation with electricity supply and reducing the load on the power system.
Among the key steps:
➡️ CAAs must review the lists of critical infrastructure facilities within two days. They will exclude consumers who are not critical to the region.
➡️ The shutdowns will not affect hospitals, schools, life support facilities and defence industry enterprises.
➡️ Local authorities have been instructed to reduce electricity consumption. This means not using additional lighting for buildings, streets, parks, decorative lights and advertising in city centres.
➡️ Dangerous roads and streets should remain illuminated. The list of polling stations will be determined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police.
➡️ TSOs and energy authorities should ensure that generating plants are fully operational - gas piston, gas turbine, cogeneration, diesel, petrol and gas.
➡️ The government has allowed electricity imports by state-owned companies and companies with a state share of 50% or more.
The Cabinet of Ministers notes that these decisions should help stabilise the power system in the face of increased loads and limited generation capacity.
