Preliminary: US could launch airstrikes on targets in Caracas
On the night of 3 January, videos were widely circulated on social media showing Powerful explosions and air defence work on Caracasom. By prior notice, The United States could conduct air strikes on a number of military and infrastructure facilities in the Venezuelan capital and on the coast.
As of now, there are no official statements or confirmations of the operation from Washington.
What we know so far
According to open sources and eyewitness accounts:
Strikes could have been carried out in the southern districts of Caracas, in particular on Fort Tiuna and Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base;
It is reported on Attacking at least 10 targets in the capital;
Fixed a strike on the La Guaira naval base in the state Vargas, where the maritime academy is located - on the site allegedly power supply has been cut off;
Over Caracas, the following were spotted American transport helicopters CH-47 Chinook, as well as AH-64 Apache drums;
Venezuelan side, according to unconfirmed reports, took into the air Su-30MKV fighters for interception;
Separately, there are reports of possible strikes on of the port of Caracas and Margarita Island, where military facilities are concentrated.
