The White House says the US cannot supply weapons to Ukraine indefinitely

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said that the United States «cannot supply weapons endlessly» for Ukraine's needs. She said this during a briefing, commenting on the administration's approach to further military support.

According to Levitt, President Donald Trump is seeking to end the war and is considering various diplomatic avenues.

What Levitt said.

In her statement, the spokeswoman emphasised:

  • «The President wants this war to end».

  • US cannot supply arms without restrictions «in infinite mode».

  • Washington is working to find a solution that will stabilise the situation.

This position coincides with the Trump administration's previously announced policy of reassessing the US's foreign military commitments.

Context.

While Ukraine continues to call on its partners to increase defence assistance, there is a growing internal debate in Washington about the extent of long-term support.

Earlier, a number of US politicians expressed concern about the costs of international security programmes, which became part of the broader pre-election and post-election politics in the US.
