Ukraine plans to introduce a system of penalty points for drivers, which will allow to temporarily to deprive a driver's licence for systematic violations.
This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport Vladimir Kreidenko.
How the penalty points system will work
According to Kreidenko, each traffic violation will have your “accrual” of points.
After exceeding a certain driver limit will be temporarily deprived of the right to drive vehicles.
«We are introducing a system of penalty points. If a driver systematically violates the law, he or she will lose the license automatically, without a trial,» the MP explained.
It is planned that for serious violations - speeding, running red lights, drunk driving - will be awarded more points than for minor offences.

Kreydenko emphasised that the aim of the initiative is to End impunity on the roads.
The system will allow the police to automatically record violations and track the number of points in real time.
«This will encourage drivers to be more careful. Those who have allowed themselves to drive recklessly for years will finally feel the consequences,» Kreidenko added.
When may be introduced
The draft law is currently being prepared for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada.
The first pilot regions are expected to start testing the system as early as 2025.
