White House: time to make a deal
White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt said that the United States is beginning to «tire» of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
«Both sides have to realise the reality and make a deal,» Leavitt said, speaking to journalists in Washington.
She stressed that the American society expects real steps towards peace and a gradual exit from the conflict through diplomatic means.
Trump and Americans are running out of patience
According to a White House spokeswoman, «the patience of President Donald Trump and the citizens of the United States has limits», and support for Ukraine cannot be endless.
She noted that Washington cannot maintain a high level of military assistance without political progress.
«We want peace, but this peace must be achieved through negotiations,» Leavitt added.
Diplomatic efforts continue
Leavitt's statement came against the backdrop of intensified diplomatic contacts between the United States, Ukraine, and European partners.
Discussions continue in Washington a new peace initiative, that the US administration may propose in the near future.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Donald Trump - the parties discussed possible formats for ending the war and security guarantees for Ukraine.
