Witkoff to meet with Zelenskyy and European leaders in Berlin this weekend
US Special Representative Steve Witkoff plans to meet with the President in Berlin Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders of several European countries, according to The Wall Street Journal. The talks are scheduled for the coming weekend and are seen as one of the most important stages of the current diplomatic efforts.
According to the WSJ, the White House insists that an agreement to end the war was reached by the end of the year. Washington is trying to synchronise the positions of Kyiv and European capitals, increasing pressure on the Kremlin.
Unresolved issues
Despite the active work of the negotiating groups, the key differences are primarily over territorial issues - remain open. They can become the main obstacle to the final approval of documents.
Negotiators call the Berlin meeting crucial: it should show how ready the parties are to reach a compromise.
