Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has decided to accede to the Convention on International Access to Justice. This opens up the possibility for Ukrainians to receive free legal aid in 28 European countries.

How free legal aid will work abroad

Thanks to the new legislation, Ukrainian citizens will be able to seek pro bono support in civil and commercial matters in European countries. Importantly, documents in such cases will not require legalisation and will not be subject to additional fees.

List of countries where assistance is available

The 28 countries where this initiative will be implemented include Poland, France, Sweden and other EU countries. This will greatly simplify access to justice for Ukrainians and reduce the cost of legal services abroad.

Why it is important for Ukrainians

Accession to the Convention on International Access to Justice will help protect the rights of Ukrainians abroad. They will now be able to receive qualified legal support without financial obstacles, which is especially important in today's challenging environment.
