Cases against tourists and locals
According to reports, more than 20 people have been prosecuted for filming and publishing videos showing air defence systems and missile arrivals. Among them are foreign tourists, including British citizens.
The authorities emphasise that even accidental filming can be regarded as a violation of the legislation governing the protection of state secrets and security. Tourists are urged to refrain from filming in areas with a high level of security.
Reaction of the international community
International human rights activists have expressed concern about the severity of the punishments and possible human rights violations. At the same time, the Dubai authorities insist that such measures are necessary to maintain stability and security in the region.
Travel agencies recommend that their clients carefully read the local laws and avoid actions that could lead to criminal liability.
