UAE suspends drone flights and switches education to distance learning
The General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE (GCAA) has announced the suspension of permits for the use of drones, gliders and recreational aircraft for a period of one week.
The restrictions apply to both private operators and commercial use of the relevant equipment. The agency stressed that the decision is preventive in nature.
Education is being transferred online
At the same time, the UAE authorities are introducing distance learning for students, teachers and administrative staff of all public and private schools and universities.
The online format will be available from Monday, 2 March, to Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
Context.
The decision was made against the backdrop of a sharp deterioration in the security situation in the Middle East. Countries in the region are stepping up security measures following large-scale military operations and the growing risk of new attacks.
Analysts say that such steps indicate preparations for possible incidents in the airspace.
