{"id":10274,"date":"2026-02-19T17:52:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T15:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/?p=10274"},"modified":"2026-02-19T17:52:17","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T15:52:17","slug":"odesa-rozkrali-generator-nimechchyna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/suspilstvo\/odesa-rozkrali-generator-nimechchyna\/","title":{"rendered":"Generators donated by Germany stolen in Odesa"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Officials stole humanitarian generators worth UAH 2.2 million in Odesa<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"217\" data-end=\"516\">Law enforcement officers have submitted to court an indictment against three former officials of a utility company in Odesa who, according to the investigation, illegally used humanitarian generators donated for critical city infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"12ixlp8\" data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"535\">Details of the case<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"537\" data-end=\"912\">At the end of 2022, Odesa Electrotechnical Maintenance and Installation Enterprise took over the following <strong data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"659\">four generators<\/strong> with a total value of over <strong data-start=\"685\" data-end=\"709\">UAH 2.2 million<\/strong> - equipment that was transferred to the city as humanitarian aid, in particular from Germany and Kherson region, to support critical infrastructure facilities during martial law.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"1104\">The investigation established that these generators <strong data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"991\">were not used for their intended purpose<\/strong>. Instead of supporting hospitals, municipal facilities or shelters, the equipment was connected to private facilities:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1355\">\n<li data-section-id=\"19jp51v\" data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1205\">\n<p data-start=\"1108\" data-end=\"1205\"><strong data-start=\"1108\" data-end=\"1135\">two diesel generators<\/strong> provide electricity supply <strong data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1204\">restaurant and cafe in the centre of Odesa<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"v7kxnh\" data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1282\">\n<p data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1282\"><strong data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1226\">one generator<\/strong> worked for <strong data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1262\">private house<\/strong> in Odesa district;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"14l764d\" data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1355\">\n<p data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1355\"><strong data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1296\">another<\/strong> - for <strong data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1316\">car washes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1459\">Law enforcement officers seized the equipment as material evidence during the searches.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1fzgiz4\" data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1497\">Legal qualification and consequences<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1823\">The former director of the utility company and the former chief engineer are charged with <strong data-start=\"1560\" data-end=\"1627\">embezzlement of other people's property that was under the authority of an official<\/strong>, committed repeatedly and by prior conspiracy (Article 191(4) and (5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The company's mechanic is accused of <strong data-start=\"1761\" data-end=\"1776\">aiding and abetting<\/strong> of the crime.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"2104\">The indictment was sent to court by the Prymorskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa. The suspects face <strong data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1953\">up to 12 years in prison<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1955\" data-end=\"2044\">deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years<\/strong> and confiscation of property.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2106\" data-end=\"2109\" \/>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"bz5cfl\" data-start=\"2111\" data-end=\"2123\">Context.<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2391\">This case is one of several where law enforcement officers have exposed schemes <strong data-start=\"2189\" data-end=\"2242\">misuse of humanitarian aid<\/strong> in times of war, which causes significant budget losses and undermines confidence in the allocation of resources in a critical
