Putin is preparing Russian society for a new mobilisation<\/h2>\n

The Kremlin may be preparing Russian society for a new round of mobilisation amid growing casualties at the front and changes in Russian legislation. This was reported by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n

Signs of preparation<\/h3>\n

Analysts point out that the decisions taken at the end of last year indicate that preparations for a new \u00abpartial mobilisation\u00bb are underway. In particular, the Russian authorities granted the Ministry of Defence broader powers to call up a mobilisation reserve of up to two million people.<\/p>\n

The ISW also notes that the influx of contractors no longer compensates for the losses of Russian troops in the war against Ukraine, which increases the Kremlin's need for additional human resources.<\/p>\n

New steps by military commissariats<\/h3>\n

According to analysts, since November, military commissariats in Russia have actually switched to year-round conscription. In addition, in December Vladimir Putin<\/strong> signed a law on military training for reservists.<\/p>\n

ISW experts believe that such steps may be part of the gradual preparation of the information and legal environment for a new wave of mobilisation.<\/p>\n

The previous \u00abpartial mobilisation\u00bb in Russia in September 2022 caused a significant public outcry. According to various estimates, the country was left with 700 to 900 thousand people<\/strong>, trying to avoid being drafted.<\/p>\n
