NATO may invoke the collective defence clause against Iran<\/h2>\n

NATO Secretary General Mark R\u00fctte<\/strong> said the Alliance could consider the use of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty<\/strong>, which provides for collective defence, in the context of the escalating situation around Iran.<\/p>\n

According to him, the allies are closely monitoring developments and are ready to respond in case of a threat to NATO member states.<\/p>\n

What does the collective defence article provide for<\/h3>\n

Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that an attack on one Ally is seen as an attack on all Allies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
