Tomorrow Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine<\/span><\/span><\/strong> plans to consider a draft law on de-anonymisation of Telegram channels<\/strong>. This was reported by the MP Irina Gerashchenko<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The initiative provides for the introduction of new rules for popular channels in Telegram<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, that may oblige their administrators to officially register and disclose their identity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What does the draft law on de-anonymisation of Telegram provide for?<\/h2>\n

According to the MP, the document is aimed at combating disinformation and manipulation in social media<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If the law is passed, large channels may face new requirements:<\/p>\n

    disclosure of the channel administrator's identity<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    official registration of popular channels<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    responsibility for the content shared<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Such rules are expected to reduce the spread of fake news<\/strong> and make the information space more transparent.<\/p>\n

    Why it matters<\/h2>\n

    Telegram has become one of the main sources of news for Ukrainians during the war. Many large channels have hundreds of thousands or even millions of subscribers.<\/p>\n

    However, a significant number of these channels work anonymously<\/strong>, This makes it difficult to bring to justice in case of dissemination of false information or propaganda.<\/p>\n

    What's next<\/h2>\n

    The draft law may be submitted to parliament tomorrow. If MPs support the document, the rules of operation of large Telegram channels in Ukraine may change<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
