He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. This is not the first high-profile scandal involving this politician.<\/p>\n<h2>Official confirmation from the Prosecutor General's Office<\/h2>\n<p>The Office of the Prosecutor General has officially confirmed the opening of a criminal case against MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak. He is suspected of embezzling millions of budget funds intended to finance the Voice party. According to a letter from the Prosecutor General's Office, in 2020, Zheleznyak ordered services from fictitious companies and paid money to his MP friends for fake consultations.<\/p>\n<h2>Schemes with fictitious companies and friends of MPs<\/h2>\n<p>It is known that the following MPs were involved in the scheme <strong>Nefyodov<\/strong> \u0456 <strong>Malenok<\/strong>, who received budget funds for non-existent consultations. Due to these facts, in 2021, the NACP suspended state funding for Voice, and later the party was deprived of it altogether. The scandal surrounding the \u00abanti-corruption activist\u00bb Zhelezniak is gaining momentum, as this is not the first time his name has been mentioned in high-profile investigations.<\/p>\n<h2>Relations with Russian business and the occupied territories<\/h2>\n<p>Zheleznyak previously worked for a Russian company <strong>Kesarev Consulting<\/strong> and was an assistant to a Party of Regions MP <strong>Plotnikova<\/strong>. His family ties also raise questions: his father-in-law is the head of a company from a Russian agricultural group, and his mother owns a stake in a business operating in occupied Donetsk, where the structures of the so-called \u00abDPR\u00bb and the Russian FSB are located. Meanwhile, the MP continues to live in a UAH 12 million apartment and drive a premium car, although he has no official income to do so.
