Ihor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta, has spoken about the danger of open declarations for officials. He believes that the publication of personal data of civil servants creates threats in times of war and scares away potential business managers. Smelyansky also questioned the benefits of such openness for society.<\/p>\n

Smelyansky criticised the openness of declarations<\/h2>\n

CEO of Ukrposhta\u00ab Igor Smelyansky<\/strong> said that open declarations of officials are an excessive measure of transparency. He stressed that businessmen are reluctant to join the civil service because they have to disclose their wealth and property. In his opinion, this significantly reduces the motivation of experienced managers to join the public sector.<\/p>\n

Security of officials during the war<\/h2>\n

Smelyansky<\/a> emphasised that in times of war, the publication of home addresses and other personal data of officials can pose a real danger. He noted that such data becomes available not only to citizens but also to potential enemies of the country. This issue is particularly relevant given the current situation in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Public benefit in question<\/h2>\n

The head of Ukrposhta also questioned the usefulness of open declarations for ordinary Ukrainians. He cited the example that knowing about the income of the head of a state-owned bank will not help an ordinary grandmother.
