Booking, one of the largest hotel booking services, has reported a large-scale data breach. Hackers gained access to contact information and booking details, which has already led to new fraud schemes.<\/p>\n

Data breach: what happened<\/h2>\n

Booking<\/strong> officially warned users about the large-scale hack. Hackers gained access to names, contact details (email, phone) and detailed information about past and current customer bookings. This was reported by BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the company, financial data, including bank card numbers, remained safe. However, the amount of stolen personal information already allows attackers to organise targeted attacks on users.<\/p>\n

A new wave of fraud<\/h2>\n

After the hack, Booking customers began receiving messages from people posing as hotel administrators. With access to real travel data, these messages look convincing.<\/p>\n

The attackers report a \u00abpayment problem\u00bb or ask to \u00abconfirm the booking\u00bb, offering to transfer funds through third-party links or messengers. Booking emphasises that the company never asks for payment outside the official platform.<\/p>\n
