The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has announced an update to the procedure for passing the driving licence test. The innovations are aimed at overcoming language barriers for foreigners and reducing corruption risks. The update applies to both the theoretical and practical parts of the exam.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is introducing the possibility of taking a theoretical test for knowledge of traffic rules in English. Previously, the exam was conducted in the state language only at MIA service centres, which created difficulties for foreigners.<\/p>\n
For candidates who moved to Ukraine, the language barrier was a significant obstacle, as they had only 60 days to exchange their driving licences. The new rules will allow this category of citizens to take the test in English, which should simplify the process of obtaining a Ukrainian licence.<\/p>\n
In order to minimise corruption risks and prevent cases of other people taking the exam, the MIA is introducing mandatory photo verification. Each candidate will be photographed immediately before the theoretical and practical exams.<\/p>\n
This procedure should ensure the identification of the person taking the exam and increase the transparency of the process of obtaining a driving licence.<\/p>\n
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the main goal of the changes is to remove language barriers for foreigners and reduce corruption during the exams.
