The Supreme Court of Ukraine has cancelled the results of an auction for the sale of the Priazovske gas field, which was sold for UAH 630,000 with an estimated value of 7.8 billion in reserves. Prosecutors proved that the deal was concluded with gross violations of the law.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court cancelled the agreement<\/h2>\n

On 14 April 2026, the Commercial Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court invalidated the results of the auction for the sale of the Pryazovske gas field. The court upheld the cassation appeal filed by the Specialised Environmental Prosecutor's Office.<\/p>\n

The decision provides for the cancellation of the special production permit and the sale and purchase agreement concluded on the basis of this auction. The prosecutor's office argued that the transfer of the field was in violation of the law and the public interest.<\/p>\n

Details of the auction<\/h2>\n

The field was sold for UAH 630 thousand with an estimated value of reserves of UAH 7.8 billion.<\/strong> The auction was held under the Dutch auction procedure, which involves a price reduction.<\/p>\n

Only one company took part in the auction, which was linked in the media to a Ukrainian politician under NSDC sanctions. Due to the lack of competition, the value of the lot fell 39 times from the starting price.<\/p>\n

Violations in the sale<\/h2>\n

The prosecutor's office found that the special permit for gas production was sold without the mandatory approval of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. This is a gross violation of regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n

The court agreed with the prosecutors' arguments that the deal was illegal and the procedure was not in the interests of the state. All documents related to the sale were declared invalid.<\/p>\n

The importance of the Pryazovske field<\/h2>\n

The Pryazovske gas field is one of the oldest in Ukraine, having been discovered in 1929. It covers an area of almost 35,000 hectares and has more than 110 wells.<\/p>\n

The field's proven reserves exceed 2.2 billion cubic metres of gas. The sale of the field at a reduced price caused a wide response in the public and among energy sector experts.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
