Ambassadors of the European Union member states approved a \u20ac90 billion loan to Ukraine. The 20th package of sanctions against Russia was also agreed. The formal written procedure has already begun.<\/p>\n

EU approves loan for Ukraine<\/h2>\n

On 22 April, EU ambassadors agreed to provide Ukraine with a \u20ac90 billion loan. This decision was made at the level of Permanent Representatives of the Member States.<\/p>\n

The loan is part of a long-term financial support package<\/a> for Ukraine. The funding is aimed at stabilising the economy and rebuilding infrastructure.<\/p>\n

20th package of sanctions<\/h2>\n

In addition to financial assistance, the twentieth sanctions package<\/a> against Russia. Its details have not yet been disclosed.<\/p>\n

The sanctions are the EU's response to Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine. The new package includes restrictions on individuals and legal entities.<\/p>\n

Formal approval procedure<\/h2>\n

Once agreed by the ambassadors, a written procedure for approving decisions was launched. It is standard for such decisions in the EU.<\/p>\n

The procedure is expected to be completed in the afternoon of 23 April. The decisions will then come into force.<\/p>\n

Ukraine's response<\/h2>\n

The Ukrainian authorities welcomed the decision of the EU ambassadors. The authorities noted that the financial support will help the country during the difficult period of war.<\/p>\n
