On 25 April, Tuareg from the Azawad Liberation Front and Islamists from the JNIM group launched a coordinated offensive against towns and positions of the Malian army. The government forces are supported by the Russian African Corps, known as the ex-Wagnerians.<\/p>\n

Fighting is reported in several regions, including the outskirts of the capital Bamako. The rebels declare their intention to regain control of the Azawad territories.<\/p>\n

Fighting in key cities<\/h2>\n

According to local sources, fighting continues in the towns of Kati, Sevar, Gao and Kidal. Kati is located near Bamako, which underscores the threat to the capital.<\/p>\n
