On the night of 2 May, an incident occurred in Kharkiv with an enemy attack drone that flew into the window of an apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building. Two people were injured and one was hospitalised as a result of the incident. The drone did not detonate, which prevented more serious damage.<\/p>\n

Drone hits a residential building in Kharkiv<\/h2>\n

On the night of 2 May, a Russian attack drone hit a window of an apartment on the 12th floor of a high-rise building in Kharkiv's Shevchenkivskyi district. According to rescuers, the drone did not detonate, which prevented a fire and large-scale destruction.<\/p>\n

According to State Emergency Service of Ukraine<\/strong> on the official Telegram channel<\/a>, All the city's emergency services were on the scene. Explosive experts from the National Police seized the drone's warhead, and pyrotechnics from the State Emergency Service ensured additional safety for residents.<\/p>\n

Casualties and evacuation of residents<\/h2>\n

As a result of the hit, one of the residents of the apartment was injured by shards of broken glass. He was hospitalised for medical treatment. The other resident of the apartment suffered an acute stress reaction and was helped by psychologists from the State Emergency Service.<\/p>\n

Rescuers quickly evacuated the residents to a safe distance. The city council's rapid response bus was deployed to support the people who fled their homes. SES psychologists worked with the evacuees to help them overcome their negative emotions after the experience.<\/p>\n

In addition to rescuers and psychologists, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel and public utilities were also on site. The coordinated work of all departments allowed us to quickly localise the consequences of the incident and ensure the safety of the building's residents.<\/p>\n

The National Police bomb squad promptly removed the drone's warhead, minimising the risk of further explosions. SES pyrotechnics additionally inspected the surrounding area to make sure there were no other dangerous objects.<\/p>\n

Why it matters<\/h2>\n

Incident. in Kharkiv<\/a> once again demonstrates the danger posed by drone attacks on residential areas of large cities. A drone hitting a high-rise building could have had much more serious consequences if the warhead had detonated.<\/p>\n

The well-established cooperation between rescuers, police, doctors and utilities allowed us to respond quickly to the threat and protect residents. The psychological support provided to the victims and evacuees underlines the importance of a comprehensive approach to responding to such emergencies.<\/p>\n
