The Security Service of Ukraine detained the head of the Zhytomyr Regional TCC on suspicion of extortion from a local businessman. According to the investigation, the official promised not to mobilise the company's employees in return for a reward.<\/p>\n

The Security Service of Ukraine conducted a quick detention of the head of the Zhytomyr regional territorial procurement centre (TPC), who is suspected of extortion of money from a local businessman. For information<\/a> According to the SBU, the official demanded a bribe for not mobilising the company's employees and providing them with \u00abreservations\u00bb from inspections by the TCC and law enforcement.<\/p>\n

After receiving the bribe, the offender personally entered the data of the employees into the lists that were supposed to be protected from conscription and checks at checkpoints. The detention took place immediately after the transfer of funds.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the head of the TCC created a scheme whereby entrepreneurs could \u00abprotect\u00bb their employees from mobilisation by paying bribes. Employees who were included in special lists avoided not only conscription, but also checks at checkpoints and by law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers recorded all stages of the transfer of funds and the inclusion of employees on the \u00abpencil\u00bb. Such actions are known to undermine confidence in the mobilisation system and create unequal conditions for citizens.<\/p>\n

Liability and possible consequences<\/h2>\n

The detainee faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The case is being investigated under articles of the Criminal Code that provide for severe penalties for corruption offences in the defence sector.<\/p>\n

The exposure of such schemes is a priority for law enforcement agencies, especially under martial law. The SBU calls on citizens to report such cases for a prompt response.<\/p>\n
