The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic has initiated changes to the rules for providing assistance to Ukrainian citizens who are under temporary protection in the country. According to the new proposals, humanitarian payments will be available only to those who are officially employed, running a business or registered with the labour office. It is also planned to tighten control over the stay of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic and introduce a number of other innovations.<\/p>\n

Humanitarian payments - only for those who are employed or registered<\/h2>\n

The Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to limit the number of persons who will have the right to humanitarian assistance<\/a>. According to the new rules, only those Ukrainians who have an official place of employment, are engaged in entrepreneurial activity or are registered at the employment centre will be able to receive payments. Control of stay and cancellation of protection<\/h2>\n

Another condition will be the need to stay in the Czech Republic for at least 16 days a month. In case of violation of this requirement, the assistance may be cancelled. In addition, if a person stays outside the Schengen area for more than 30 days, their temporary protection may be cancelled.<\/p>\n

Additional checks and new restrictions<\/h2>\n

Other innovations include stricter document and biometric checks. It is also planned to ban the use of unregistered Ukrainian cars in the Czech Republic from 2028.
