Local authorities confirmed that the drones hit an apartment block, but there were no casualties. Immediately after the attack, a large-scale fire broke out in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The fire occurred at the largest oil refinery in the Volgograd region, which is a key asset of the company \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/economics\/lukoil-sanktsii-ssha-prodovzhyly-termin-prodazhu\/\">Lukoil<\/a>\u00bb. The plant specialises in deep oil refining, producing petrol, diesel and jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen and other products. The company processes more than 15 million tonnes of raw materials annually.<\/p>\n<p>This plant has already <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/world\/drony-atakuvaly-volhohrad-npz-lukoyl\/\">repeatedly<\/a> has been the target of drone attacks. The last such incident occurred in February 2026. Damage to refineries could have a significant impact on fuel supplies in the region.<\/p>\n<h2>The damage near the research and production centre \u00abTitan-Barricades\u00bb<\/h2>\n<p>The residential building that was hit by one of the drones is located two kilometres from Titan-Barricade, one of the most secretive enterprises in the Russian defence industry. The centre is involved in the full cycle of weapons production, including development, research and large-scale production.<\/p>\n<p>Titan-Barricade's products include launchers for the Yars, Topol-M and advanced Sarmat strategic missile systems, as well as self-propelled launchers for the Iskander-M operational and tactical systems and heavy artillery systems.<\/p>\n<h2>The significance of the attack for the Russian defence industry<\/h2>\n<p>The company is subject to sanctions imposed by the EU, the US, Canada, Japan and other countries. The damage to the facility or its immediate vicinity could affect the production of key components for strategic and tactical weapons.<\/p>\n<p>The nighttime attack indicates the continued use of unmanned systems to target important economic and military infrastructure in Russia.
