Petrol must contain bioethanol within the E5 and E10 standards, and diesel fuel must contain biodiesel up to 7% under the B7 standard. This will allow the domestic fuel market to adapt to European standards, improving environmental performance and reducing dependence on traditional oil products.<\/p>\n<h2>Characteristics of the new fuel standards and labelling<\/h2>\n<p><strong>E5 and E10 standards<\/strong> means that petrol will contain up to 5% or 10% of bioethanol, an ethanol made from plant-based feedstocks such as corn, wheat or sugar beet. B7 diesel fuel will contain up to 7% of biodiesel. The octane labelling of petrol, such as A-95 or A-98, will not disappear completely, but the pumps will increasingly use E5 or E10 labels, which indicate the proportion of biocomponents that meet European standards.<\/p>\n<h2>Impact on vehicle compatibility<\/h2>\n<p>Specialised organisations confirm that most modern petrol cars are compatible with E5 and E10, including models from manufacturers such as Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Renault. However, for owners of older vehicles or vehicles with modified fuel systems, it is important to check technical compatibility before regularly using fuel with a higher bioethanol content. Alcohol blends can increase the wear of rubber seals and fuel hoses if they are not designed for such components.<\/p>\n<h2>Economic impact of the new requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The government and fuel market representatives say that the introduction of bioethanol in petrol and biodiesel in accordance with the E5, E10 and B7 standards will not lead to a significant increase in prices at petrol stations. The new standards have long been applied in the European Union, from which Ukraine imports a significant portion of its fuel.
