Small modular reactors are the future of Ukrainian energy<\/h2>\n

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has announced its support for deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs)<\/strong> - modern new-generation nuclear facilities capable of ensuring a stable supply of electricity even in crisis conditions.<\/p>\n

The agency reported that two pilot projects are already being implemented in cooperation with American partners<\/strong>, which should become the basis for the creation of networks of small power units<\/strong> on the territory of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Legislative initiative<\/h3>\n

On 9 October, at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy presented a draft law on the introduction of small modular reactors<\/strong>.
The initiators of the document believe that the development of the IMR will contribute to restoration of energy infrastructure<\/strong>, The energy sector is in a state of flux, especially after the massive Russian attacks on the power grid.<\/p>\n

It is also emphasised that the launch of the Reduce Ukraine's dependence on gas and coal imports<\/strong>, will create new jobs and open up access to private investment in green nuclear energy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Cooperation with the USA<\/h3>\n

American companies are already involved in the preparation of the technical basis and justification for the placement the first IMR in Ukraine<\/strong>.
According to preliminary expert estimates, the first modular reactors can be built for five years<\/strong> after the adoption of the relevant legislative framework.<\/p>\n
