Russian authorities continue to strengthen Moscow's air defences amid regular drone attacks. Footage has been posted online showing the latest Pantsir-SMD-E anti-aircraft missile systems being installed on the roofs of civilian high-rise buildings using Mi-26 helicopters.<\/p>\n

The videos show the Russian military using a heavy Mi-26 transport helicopter to deliver a combat module of the \u00abPantser-SMD-E<\/a>\u00bb on the roof of the Nordstar Tower business centre in Moscow. Similar systems have already been spotted on other buildings in the Russian capital.<\/p>\n

According to military observers, the placement of the systems at high altitude should improve the ability to detect and intercept drones approaching the city at low altitudes.<\/p>\n

Why the Kremlin is stepping up its defence of the capital<\/h2>\n

In recent months, Ukraine has significantly increased the range and scale of its drone strikes on Russian territory. As a result, the Russian authorities have repeatedly closed the airspace around Moscow and reinforced air defence systems around strategic sites.<\/p>\n

Experts note that the installation of Pantsyrs even on civilian buildings indicates the Kremlin's concern about possible massive drone attacks. The work is being carried out even in adverse weather conditions, which may indicate a rush to deploy additional defences.<\/p>\n

What is the difference between Pantsir-SMD-E\u00ab<\/h2>\n

Unlike previous modifications, the Pantsir-SMD-E version is primarily focused on combating drones and does not have traditional automatic guns. The system uses missile armament and modern radar equipment to detect small aerial targets.<\/p>\n
