At present <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"127\">46 underground stations operate as shelters around the clock<\/b>. To ensure that people\u2019s time at stations is safe, comfortable and well-organised, the Underground has updated its rules and provided up-to-date guidance for residents.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"4\">What has changed: tents are now banned<\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">The main change concerns the layout of the platforms. The administration <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivcity.gov.ua\/news\/scho_brati_iz_soboyu_v_ukrittya_rekomendatsi_vid_kivskogo_metropolitenu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notes<\/a>, that <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"95\">It is now prohibited to pitch tents at stations<\/b>, as they take up a lot of space and may hinder emergency evacuation or the passage of other people.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">Instead of tents, residents of Kyiv are advised to bring <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"51\">sleeping mats (camping mats), inflatable mattresses or sleeping bags<\/b>. They take up very little space when folded away, but allow you to wait out the danger in comfort.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"8\">Checklist: what to take with you to a shelter<\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">The temperature at underground stations usually fluctuates between <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"63\">17\u201318\u00b0C<\/b>, and in the event of a prolonged stay or draughts, it may feel even colder. It is therefore important to pack an emergency kit carefully.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Essential shelter kit:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"11\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Warm clothes and blankets:<\/b> Dress in layers, and bring a thermal mat, extra jumpers and warm socks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Supplies of water and food:<\/b> You should bring your own supply of drinking water and a nutritious snack (energy bars, nuts, dried fruit).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">First-aid kit:<\/b> Medicines you take regularly, as well as basic items (painkillers, sedatives, plasters).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Hygiene products:<\/b> Wet wipes, antiseptics, dry tissues.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,4,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">For pet owners:<\/b> Pets are a common sight at the shelter.
