Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine have detained a Member of Parliament from the \u2018Servant of the People\u2019 party, who is accused of receiving undue benefits in return for helping private companies in tenders for medical equipment.<\/p>\n
Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU<\/a>) a Member of Parliament from the \u201cServant of the People\u201d party was arrested on suspicion of abuse of influence during tenders for the procurement of medical equipment. According to according to the investigation<\/a>, the MP received 558,000 hryvnias in unlawful benefits for helping private companies win tenders for hospitals in the Zhytomyr region.<\/p>\n The arrest took place following a ruling by the High Anti-Corruption Court, as the defendant had systematically failed to appear at court hearings. According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the MP missed several hearings in 2025 and 2026, citing official business trips, including a trip to Spain, as the reason.<\/p>\n The investigation alleges that in January 2022, the MP received 558 thousand hryvnias via a trusted associate, which amounted to 30% of the contract value for the supply of an ultrasound diagnostic system to a municipal hospital in Zhytomyr. In return, he was to use his influence to ensure that a private company won the public procurement contract. Furthermore, the MP promised similar assistance in two other procurement processes \u2014 for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner and laparoscopic equipment \u2014 the total value of which exceeds 38 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n Prosecutors from the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor\u2019s Office have applied to the court to have the preventive measure changed to remand in custody without the option of bail.
