This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation <strong>Valery Gerasimov<\/strong> reported to the President of Russia <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/world\/putin-nastupni-plany-ukrayina\/\">To Vladimir Putin<\/a> during a meeting with the military leadership. According to Gerasimov, the city had allegedly been brought under control as part of an offensive operation to capture the entire territory of Donetsk Oblast.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of publication, the Ukrainian authorities had not officially confirmed reports that Kostiantynivka had been captured. Previously, the Ukrainian military had repeatedly reported fierce fighting in this sector, which remains one of the key areas in the Donetsk region.<\/p>\n<h2>Putin has announced the expansion of the buffer zone<\/h2>\n<p>During the meeting, Putin also stated that Russia intends to expand the so-called \u201csecurity zones\u201d along the Ukrainian border, citing strikes by Ukrainian long-range drones on Russian territory as the reason.
