The Chairman of the Management Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine\u00ab <strong>Sergey Koretsky<\/strong> He reported that a fire broke out on the company\u2019s premises following the strikes, and operations at the site had to be suspended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px !important; font-style: italic !important; color: #444444 !important; line-height: 1.6 !important; text-transform: none !important; border-left: 4px solid #888888 !important; padding-left: 18px !important; margin: 25px 0 !important; display: block !important;\">\u00abThe staff took shelter and followed the necessary safety procedures. There are currently no reports of any casualties,\u00bb said Koretsky.<\/p>\n<p>It is not yet possible to assess the extent of the damage. Experts will need to inspect the site once the clean-up operations have been completed. In \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/viyna\/rf-atakuie-obiekty-naftohazu-na-kharkivshchyni\/\">Naftogaz<\/a>\u00bbThey emphasised that Russia had already attacked this facility on numerous occasions, as it had a number of other gas production facilities in the region.\".<\/p>\n<p>Koretsky emphasised that the aim of such strikes is to hamper Ukrainian gas production and disrupt the country\u2019s preparations for the heating season. Meanwhile, on the night of 4 July, Russia also attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile, an X-59\/69 air-launched guided missile and 86 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.<\/p>\n<h2>Why it matters<\/h2>\n<p>Gas production infrastructure is critical to Ukraine\u2019s energy security, particularly as winter approaches.
