They organised a scheme to illegally sell 500 tonnes of fuel, causing losses to the state amounting to over 47 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<div class=\"summary-title\">Briefly about the main points<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A case involving four former officials from the Ministry of Defence has been referred to court.<\/li>\n<li>The defendants unlawfully took possession of nearly 500 tonnes of fuel.<\/li>\n<li>The losses resulting from the theft amount to more than 47 million hryvnias.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme involved the use of forged documents.<\/li>\n<li>The fuel was sold to third parties, and the proceeds were shared out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>How the scheme for the illegal theft of fuel operated<\/h2>\n<p>Between 2022 and 2025, former officials from the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff organised a scheme whereby they artificially created a demand for petrol and diesel fuel for one of the military units. Official documentation stated that the fuel was required for combat training exercises. However, in reality, no such exercises took place, and the fuel and lubricants received were used for purposes other than those intended.<\/p>\n<p>To conceal their criminal activities, the suspects drew up forged delivery notes and reports on the movement of military equipment. They then sold the fuel to third parties.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation established that those involved in the scheme had illegally obtained over 132.7 tonnes of motor petrol and over 364.5 tonnes of diesel fuel. The total volume of the stolen fuel amounts to almost 500 tonnes, and its value exceeds 47 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n<h2>Court case<\/h2>\n<p>An indictment has been filed with the court against four individuals: two former heads of departments within the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the head of the fuel and lubricants service at a military unit, and the head of a refuelling station. The court will carry out a further legal assessment of their actions. At the same time, in accordance with <em>Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine<\/em>, people are presumed innocent until their guilt has been proven in
