The British company BAE Systems has signed a licensing agreement with a strategic defence partner in Ukraine to develop a variant of the L119 105-mm gun for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The company will transfer technical information and provide the support required to manufacture the first prototype for testing. The name of the Ukrainian partner is being withheld for security reasons.<\/p>\n
Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n BAE Systems said.<\/a>, the agreement was signed on 21 July at the Farnborough Airshow. It provides for the transfer of technical information to the Ukrainian side and support for the manufacture of the first gun, which is to be tested.<\/p>\n The company says it is developing a version L119 Light Gun<\/strong> for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is an important clarification: the agreement initiates work on a prototype, rather than confirming that mass production is already underway.<\/p>\n BAE has not disclosed the name of the partner, the location of the work, the project cost, the timetable or the anticipated scope of the work. Nor has the company specified exactly which parts of the system the localisation will cover.<\/p>\n BAE\u2019s cooperation with Ukraine on the L119 has already been established. In August 2023, the company established a legal presence in Ukraine and agreed with the government to seek Ukrainian partners to explore the possibility of manufacturing the 105-mm Light Gun.<\/p>\n In April 2024, BAE signed a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence for the maintenance and repair of the L119s transferred to Ukraine, to be carried out directly in the country.
