On 25 July, Russian forces attacked a \u00abNova Poshta\u00bb logistics facility in Sumy using a jet-powered drone. Three of the company\u2019s drivers, aged 43, 48 and 53, were killed in the strike. Rescue operations were hampered by the constant threat of a follow-up attack.<\/p>\n

A Russian jet-powered drone struck a \u00abNova Poshta\u00bb logistics facility in Sumy. Following the explosion, a major fire broke out, engulfing lorries and nearby structures.<\/p>\n

A photograph released by the State Emergency Service shows a vehicle engulfed in flames and a rescuer working near the source of the fire. Some of the vehicles have sustained critical damage.<\/p>\n

Whilst searching the area, emergency services discovered the bodies of two drivers who had been killed. The men were at the site at the time of the Russian attack.<\/p>\n

They tried to save the third driver<\/h2>\n

Another worker was found alive but with serious injuries. Paramedics tried to get the man to hospital as quickly as possible, but he died on the way there.<\/p>\n

The victims were men aged 43, 48 and 53. All three worked as drivers for \u00abNova Poshta\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Details regarding any other possible casualties, the area affected by the fire and the full extent of the damage are still being ascertained. Rescue workers, paramedics, police officers and other emergency services were at the scene of the attack.<\/p>\n

Repeated blows posed a threat to the rescue workers<\/h2>\n

It was not possible to extinguish the fire and carry out a full inspection of the area straight away due to the risk of further attacks. Rescue workers were forced to suspend or limit their operations to prevent further casualties amongst their personnel.<\/p>\n

Russian troops regularly employ this tactic repeated blows<\/a> in areas where medical staff and emergency services are already at work. This results in delays in extinguishing fires, searching for victims and clearing away damaged structures.<\/p>\n

Once the threat had subsided, the emergency services continued to deal with the aftermath of the attack. Final figures on the damage to the logistics facility and the cargo have not yet been released.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time Russia has attacked \u00abNova Poshta\u00bb in Sumy<\/h2>\n

This is not the first Russian strike on the company\u2019s infrastructure in the city. On the morning of 17 June, two drones attacked the \u00abNova Poshta\u00bb sorting centre in Sumy. The roof, equipment and containers holding parcels were damaged in the attack.<\/p>\n

There were over 13,000 parcels at the terminal, with a total declared value of more than 42 million hryvnias. No staff members were injured during the attack, and the company has promised to compensate customers for the cost of any parcels that were destroyed or damaged.<\/p>\n

In March 2025, Russian drones also destroyed the company\u2019s terminal in Sumy. An employee of a subcontractor was killed in the attack, and over 2,500 parcels were burnt.<\/p>\n

The latest attack has been the deadliest for \u00abNova Poshta\u00bb staff in Sumy in recent times. Three men were carrying out their normal civilian duties when a Russian drone struck the logistics facility.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
