All petrol stations in this area have been destroyed. This may make it more difficult for drivers, hauliers and emergency services to access fuel: they will have to seek out more remote filling stations and take into account any restrictions on their operating hours.

Briefly about the main points

Overnight, Russia struck the last remaining petrol stations still in operation on the regional borders.

All petrol stations in this area have been destroyed.

Drivers may need to use petrol stations further afield.

Some WOG stations operate on a special timetable.

In July, attacks on petrol stations were reported in both the Poltava and Kharkiv regions.

The strike hit the last remaining open petrol stations

A night-time attack destroyed all the petrol stations on the border between the Kharkiv and Poltava regions that were still operating. There is currently no information available on the exact addresses, the names of the chains, the extent of the damage to each site, or the timeframe for their possible restoration.

The editorial conclusion based on the available information is that local fuel logistics in this area will become more complicated. This is not an assessment of the overall stock of petrol or diesel in the regions: there is no publicly available data on reserves, prices or the centralised redistribution of fuel.

Petrol stations in the region were already operating under restrictions

From 1 July WOG has introduced special operating arrangements in the Kharkiv region and at some petrol stations in the Poltava region due to the security situation. Under the published conditions, these stations were closed from 21:00 to 07:00, external lighting was switched off at night, and fuel sales were suspended during air raid alerts.

The company explained that this procedure was necessary to protect customers and staff. For drivers, this means that even petrol stations that have not been damaged may be temporarily unavailable due to security alerts or night-time opening hours.

The July attacks on petrol stations appear to be recurring

In the Poltava region, attacks on petrol station infrastructure were recorded on at least three occasions during July. On 3 July, a Russian attack damaged four petrol stations, injuring six people. On 8 July, there were reports of a drone strike on a petrol station in the Poltava district.

On the night of 25 July, Russian UAVs struck four PETROL STATION and the fire station building in the Poltava district. At the time of the first report of this incident, there were no details of any casualties, and the relevant emergency services were working at the scene.

In July, reports also emerged from the Kharkiv region of an attack on a petrol station by an FPV drone in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv, as well as damage to two petrol stations in the city. The succession of such incidents points to a recurring threat to the region’s petrol station infrastructure, although there is insufficient public data to confirm that this constitutes a single operational campaign by the Russian Federation.

Things to bear in mind before your trip

Following the closure of the nearest petrol stations, journeys may require additional planning. It is best to check the opening hours of a particular petrol station before setting off and not to rely on being able to fill up during an air raid alert.

Due to the destruction of a petrol station on the border between the Kharkiv and Poltava regions, drivers will need to plan their routes more carefully and refuel at more distant stations.

Через знищення АЗС на межі Харківщини та Полтавщини водіям потрібне додаткове планування маршруту і заправка на віддаленіших станціях.
[806815

post-25648","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-viyna
["GET
