On the agenda are differences over the next steps regarding Tehran, as well as Lebanon, Gaza and the Abraham Accords.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The meeting is the first in person since the start of the campaign against Iran.<\/li>\n<li>Trump acknowledged differences with Netanyahu over the way forward.<\/li>\n<li>One of the topics is the Iranian site at Pickaxe Mountain.<\/li>\n<li>The parties had planned to discuss Lebanon, Gaza and the Abraham Accords.<\/li>\n<li>A protest took place outside the White House against Netanyahu\u2019s visit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Disagreements surrounding Pickaxe Mountain<\/h2>\n<p>On the eve of the talks <strong>Trump<\/strong> acknowledged that his approach to Iran did not fully align with that of the Israeli Prime Minister, although he described the two sides\u2019 views as being fairly close.<\/p>\n<p>One source of tension has been the issue of the Iranian facility at Pickaxe Mountain. <strong>Netanyahu<\/strong> intended to present intelligence on activities at this site, which is regarded as a potential nuclear facility.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Fox News, Trump said he was aware of the situation and did not currently regard it as a major problem. He also suggested that Netanyahu was raising the issue to keep the US involved in the conflict, and criticised the public discussion of sensitive information.<\/p>\n<h2>Lebanon, Gaza and the normalisation of relations<\/h2>\n<p>A White House spokesperson told the Associated Press that the leaders were due to discuss a framework <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/world\/ssha-iran-pidpysannya-myru\/\">the US-Israel agreement<\/a> with Lebanon regarding the conflict with Hezbollah. The agenda also included the possible expansion of the Abraham Accords, which are aimed at normalising Israel\u2019s relations with Arab states.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu is seeking to convince Trump that Israel will not stand in the way of US diplomatic and reconstruction initiatives in Gaza and <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/world\/konflikt-ssha-iran-izrail-new\/\">Lebanon<\/a>. The US President had previously expressed concern about the number of people killed as a result of Israeli strikes.<\/p>\n<p>It was expected that US Vice-President J.D. Vance would also take part in the talks.<\/p>\n<h2>Internal pressure on both leaders<\/h2>\n<p>Netanyahu is preparing for a difficult political battle in Israel. Among the challenges facing his government are the deterioration of relations with Trump and the desire to continue military operations against Iran and Hezbollah, whilst Washington has been seeking a diplomatic solution to its relations with Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, for his part, is facing discontent over the protracted war, the economic fallout and rising prices in the run-up to the mid-term elections in November.<\/p>\n<p>As Netanyahu arrived, protesters gathered outside the White House, calling him a tyrant and stating that he was not a welcome guest in Washington.<\/p>\n<h2>What will shape the allies\u2019 future dialogue?<\/h2>\n<p>The meeting is taking place against a backdrop of declining support for Israel among Americans.
