The photo taken at the scene shows twisted metal structures, destroyed pavilions and goods that were still burning.<\/p>\n<p>Units from the State Emergency Service laid fire hoses between the market stalls and extinguished individual pockets of fire. According to the emergency services, a man was injured on the market premises.<\/p>\n<p>The market near the \u00abPochaina\u00bb metro station has been known to Kyiv residents as \u00abPetrivka\u00bb for decades. Its book stalls sold fiction, educational and antiquarian literature; there were also stalls selling clothes, household goods and collectables.<\/p>\n<h2>One person has died and another has been injured in the Sviatoshynskyi district<\/h2>\n<p>The aftermath of the attack was also reported in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, where a fire broke out on the premises of a garage co-operative. Whilst extinguishing the fire, emergency services discovered the body of a deceased person.<\/p>\n<p>Another man was injured and taken to hospital. The fire at the housing cooperative has been brought under control. In the same area, the fire service extinguished a fire in a five-storey non-residential building.<\/p>\n<h2>The extent of the damage is still being assessed<\/h2>\n<p>The number of pavilions destroyed and the total amount of losses incurred by traders are still being determined. Once the emergency repairs have been completed, stallholders will be able to assess the losses to their goods and equipment, whilst the city authorities will be able to inspect the damaged structures.
