The professional holiday will be celebrated annually on 11 July. Decree No. 687\/2026 of 31 July was published on the President\u2019s website; the document came into force on the day of its publication.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financiers\u2019 Day in Ukraine will be celebrated every year on 11 July.<\/li>\n<li>Decree No. 687\/2026 is dated 31 July 2026.<\/li>\n<li>The initiative to establish the public holiday was supported by the Ministry of Finance.<\/li>\n<li>The new date does not mean that Bank Employees\u2019 Day on 20 May has been cancelled.<\/li>\n<li>A professional holiday is not an additional day off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>What does the presidential decree provide for?<\/h2>\n<p>The document states that the public holiday has been established in recognition of the contribution made by those working in the financial sector to the stable functioning of the financial system and to promote professional development. The initiative was put forward by the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>The decree designates Financial Professionals\u2019 Day as a professional holiday. The mere establishment of such a date by presidential decree does not add it to the list of public holidays and non-working days set out in Article 73 of the Labour Code. During martial law, the provisions of this article do not apply either.<\/p>\n<h2>The new date will be added to the financial sector\u2019s calendar<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Financiers\u2019 Day<\/strong> It will co-exist alongside Bank Employees\u2019 Day, which has been celebrated in Ukraine on 20 May since 2004, and Accountants\u2019 and Auditors\u2019 Day. Consequently, the new day does not replace the existing professional holidays, but has a broader scope than a celebration specific to the banking sector.<\/p>\n<p>This decision has been taken against the backdrop of the implementation of the Strategy for Reforming the Public Finance Management System for 2026\u20132030, which the Cabinet of Ministers approved in February. It provides for the sustainability of public finances under martial law, reconstruction, digitalisation and alignment with EU standards.<\/p>\n<p>The financial system encompasses much more than just banks. According to data from <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/economics\/moneta-sea-baby-nbu-prodazh-tyrazh\/\">NBU<\/a> As at 1 April, there were 60 banks and 759 non-bank financial institutions operating in Ukraine. This suggests that the new professional holiday could bring together a wide range of financial sector professionals, although the decree does not set out an exhaustive list of professions.<\/p>\n<h2>The role of public finance specialists<\/h2>\n<p>The operational plan for the government\u2019s strategy contains 157 measures and 56 targets. It covers, in particular, financial management at national and local levels.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Finance <strong>Sergey Marchenko<\/strong> He had previously stated that effective management of public finances is the foundation of international partners\u2019 trust and the state\u2019s ability to fund key priorities \u2014 from defence to social security.
