In Russia\u2019s Saratov Oblast, \u00abBehemoth\u00bb drones attacked the \u00abEngels-2\u00bb strategic air base and an oil refinery in Saratov. Local residents reported an explosion on the airbase grounds and a large plume of smoke rising above the industrial site.<\/p>\n

An explosion was heard at the Engels-2 airbase\u00ab<\/h2>\n

An explosion occurred at the \u00abEngels-2\u00bb military airbase in Russia\u2019s Saratov Oblast as a result of an attack by \u00abBehemoth\u00bb drones. Footage published by local residents captures the moment of the explosion directly on the airbase grounds.<\/p>\n

Following the attack, the residents Engels\u2019<\/a> Residents of the airfield and surrounding areas reported hearing loud noises. Information regarding damage to aircraft, ammunition depots, fuel infrastructure or other airfield facilities is currently being verified.<\/p>\n

\u00abEngels-2\u00bb is one of Russia\u2019s main strategic aviation bases. This airfield is home to Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers, which Russian forces use to launch cruise missiles into Ukrainian territory.<\/p>\n

An oil refinery has been attacked in Saratov<\/h2>\n

At the same time, \u00abBehemoth\u00bb drones attacked an oil refinery in Saratov. Following the strike, a large plume of dark smoke rose above the industrial area, which was visible from various parts of the city.<\/p>\n

Photographs from the scene show extensive smoke billowing over the site of the plant. The strike hit an oil refinery Saratov Oil Refinery<\/a> \u2014 one of the region\u2019s largest industrial sites.<\/p>\n

The plant produces petrol, diesel, bitumen, marine fuel and other petroleum products. The breakdown of processing equipment may affect oil refining volumes, but the actual extent of the damage will only become clear once further photographs or satellite images become available.<\/p>\n

\u00abBehemoth\u00bb drones were used in the attack\u00bb<\/h2>\n

Both targets \u2014 the airbase in Engels and the oil refinery in Saratov \u2014 were attacked by drones. The strikes took place as part of a single operation and were directed against Russia\u2019s military and fuel infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The airbase supports the operations of Russia\u2019s strategic air force, whilst the oil refinery produces fuel and other petroleum products. The attack therefore struck at two areas of vital importance to Russia simultaneously \u2014 the deployment of long-range aircraft and the operation of the fuel complex.<\/p>\n
