According to her calculations, transport costs for a staff member who regularly commutes to the capital could exceed 600 hryvnias per shift and 12,000 hryvnias per month.

Briefly about the main points

The calculation model applies to workers who commute to Kyiv from the region every day.

A bus from Bila Tserkva can cost around 250 hryvnias one way.

Over 22 working shifts, road costs exceed 13,000 hryvnias.

A single journey on Kyiv’s public transport costs 30 hryvnias.

Golubovska is proposing compensation, special travel passes or pay rises.

A daily commute can take up a significant proportion of your earnings

According to estimates Golubovskaya, a bus journey from Bila Tserkva or another town in the Kyiv region to the capital can cost around 250 hryvnias one way. On top of this, there is the cost of public transport from the bus station to the hospital and back.

Following the introduction of a 60-hryvnia transfer ticket, the total cost of a return journey could exceed 600 hryvnias per working day. Over 20 shifts, this amounts to at least 12,000 hryvnias, and over 22 shifts — more than 13,000.

The doctor pointed out that, for some nurses and nursing assistants, these costs are already comparable to their wages. Under these circumstances, finding work close to home – in a shop or another establishment – may be more financially advantageous.

City discounts do not cover the suburban section of the route

From 15 July single journey A journey on the metro, bus, tram, trolleybus or funicular in Kyiv costs 30 hryvnias. Prior to this, the basic fare was 8 hryvnias and had remained unchanged since 2018.

The Kyiv City State Administration is offering discounts for regular passengers: when you buy a book of 50 journeys, each journey costs 25 hryvnias. Monthly travel passes cost between 1,088 and 2,888 hryvnias, depending on the number of journeys, whilst an unlimited pass costs 3,656 hryvnias.

From 1 August, fares on most private minibuses in the capital have also risen from 20 to 25 hryvnias. At the same time, fares for suburban and intercity routes are set by transport operators depending on the route and distance, so Kyiv travel passes do not cover the bulk of the costs for those travelling from the surrounding region.

A doctor is proposing a support programme for hospital staff

According to Golubovska, the capital’s healthcare system relies heavily on staff who live outside Kyiv. Nurses, nursing assistants and laboratory technicians provide patient care, carry out medical instructions, ensure the smooth running of operating theatres and maintain hygiene standards.

She called on the city authorities, the Kyiv Regional Administration and the relevant ministry to jointly develop a scheme to reimburse travel expenses. Among the possible measures, the doctor mentioned special travel passes for healthcare workers and pay rises.

Golubovska’s warning is based on reports from her colleagues. At the same time, the Ministry of Health has stated that nurses, nursing assistants and emergency services staff are among the most in-demand professionals in the healthcare sector.

Following the rise in transport costs, medical staff’s travel expenses to Kyiv could reach 12,000 UAH for 20 shifts, which risks causing a staff shortage.

Після подорожчання транспорту витрати медиків на дорогу до Києва можуть сягати 12 тис. грн за 20 змін, що загрожує дефіцитом кадрів.
[806778
806814
post-26752","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-suspilstvo","tag-finansy
["GET
