Following this tranche, the EU\u2019s total contribution to the mechanism has risen to \u20ac279 million.<\/p>\n<p>Luxembourg contributed a further \u20ac8 million. The total amount of its aid channelled through the fund reached \u20ac30 million.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will be used to <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/kabmin-sprostyv-vidnovlennya-infrastruktury\/\">restoration of facilities<\/a>, damaged by Russian strikes, procuring the necessary equipment for energy companies and ensuring a reliable power supply, particularly for critical infrastructure. Restoring damaged facilities is one of the tasks ahead of the next heating season.<\/p>\n<h2>The Swedish programme will cover the training of medical staff and specialist care<\/h2>\n<p>The Swedish Government has announced that it will allocate 6.9 million Swedish kronor to the Swecare Foundation to strengthen Ukraine\u2019s healthcare system in 2026. The programme involves training for Ukrainian healthcare professionals, the exchange of expertise, and partnerships between Ukrainian and Swedish government bodies, healthcare organisations and companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Among the areas to be funded by the programme<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>oncology care;<\/li>\n<li>rehabilitation and prosthetics;<\/li>\n<li>prevention of infections and combating antibiotic resistance;<\/li>\n<li>hospital management;<\/li>\n<li>training of radiotherapy specialists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The SAFE funds for Estonia should not be equated with the package for Kyiv<\/h2>\n<p>European Commissioner for Defence and Space <strong>Andrius Kubilius<\/strong> announced that Estonia is securing \u20ac2.3 billion under the European SAFE mechanism. Tallinn plans to use these funds to strengthen national defence and boost the production capacity of the European defence industry.<\/p>\n<p>SAFE is a mechanism for financing defence investments by EU Member States. The development of arms and ammunition production in Europe could expand the scope for further support for Ukraine, in particular through joint defence production.
