According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the drone was capable of reaching speeds of up to 370 km\/h and had a range of up to 1,000 km. The intelligence service considers it a transitional model leading to the \u00abGeran-4\u00bb, which was being developed to be powered by a jet engine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Main Intelligence Directorate announced that production of the \u00abGeranium-3\u00bb missiles had been halted.<\/li>\n<li>The model has been described as a stepping stone towards the launch of the \u00abGerani-4\u00bb.<\/li>\n<li>Forty-five components of foreign origin were identified in the drone.<\/li>\n<li>The countries mentioned include the US, China, Switzerland, Germany and the UK.<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine is countering high-speed targets using its air force, air defence systems, electronic warfare capabilities and interceptors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>\u00abGeran-3\u00bb has become an interim platform for the new model<\/h2>\n<p>According to a technical explanation previously published by the Main Intelligence Directorate, the \u00abGeran-3\u00bb utilised the airframe of the petrol-powered \u00abGeran-2\u00bb. Its structural strength was insufficient for high-speed flight and manoeuvres involving high g-forces.<\/p>\n<p>For \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/analitika\/geran-1-2-3-5-analiz-droniv-rf-ukraina\/\">Gerani-4<\/a>\u00bbIt is claimed to feature a reinforced structure and different aerodynamics. Intelligence sources link this newer model to a transition to a platform that was designed from the outset to accommodate a jet engine.\".<\/p>\n<h2>Foreign components and countermeasures against high-speed UAVs<\/h2>\n<p>In the design of the \u00abGerani-3\u00bb, GUR specialists identified 45 components manufactured abroad. The countries of origin of the parts include the USA, China, Switzerland, Germany and the UK.<\/p>\n<p>To counter high-speed aerial targets, Ukraine employs a multi-layered defence system comprising aircraft, anti-aircraft systems, electronic warfare, mobile fire groups and interceptor drones.
