President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy On 19 August, Iryna Mudra was dismissed from her post as Deputy Head of the President\u2019s Office<\/strong>. The relevant decree No. 734\/2026 has been published on the Head of State\u2019s website. The reasons for the personnel decision are not specified in the document.<\/p>\n

Later, MP Oleksiy Goncharenko stated that Mudru has been detained and is currently undergoing questioning by the NABU<\/strong>. However, as of the evening of 19 August, neither the NABU nor the SAP had officially confirmed her arrest.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy has dismissed Iryna Mudra from the Office of the President<\/h2>\n

The President signed the decree dismissing Iryna Mudra on Wednesday, 19 August.<\/p>\n

The document states: \u00abTo dismiss Iryna Romanivna Mudra from the post of Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine\u00bb. The decree does not contain any further details or an explanation of the reasons for this personnel decision.<\/p>\n

Mudra had been serving as Deputy Head of the Presidential Office since March 2024. Before moving to Bankova Street, she held the post of Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

At the Office of the President, Mudra was involved, in particular, in matters of international justice, the establishment of a mechanism for compensation for losses caused by Russian aggression, and work on a special tribunal concerning the Russian Federation\u2019s crime of aggression.<\/p>\n

The dismissal took place against the backdrop of Operation \u00abForest Gump\u00bb<\/h2>\n

Zelenskyy\u2019s personnel decision coincided with a large-scale operation by the NABU and the SAP \u00abForrest Gump\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On 19 August, the anti-corruption authorities announced an investigation into the activities of a group whose members, according to the investigation, had organised money laundering 150 million UAH<\/strong>, The company is also a major player in the market for the sale of criminally obtained assets.<\/p>\n

According to the NABU, the group included the deputy head of the President\u2019s Office, a former Member of Parliament, the chair of the board of a state-owned bank, the chair of its supervisory board and other individuals. However, the Bureau\u2019s official statement did not name those involved.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian media have reported that the Presidential Office official referred to in case files<\/a>, it could well be Iryna Mudra.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, 150 million hryvnia were channelled through the accounts of affiliated companies and used to post bail for one of the individuals implicated in the \u00abMidas\u00bb case.<\/p>\n

On the evening of 19 August, reports emerged regarding the possible arrest of the former deputy head of the Presidential Office.<\/p>\n

MP Oleksiy Goncharenko stated that Iryna Mudra has been detained and is currently undergoing questioning at the NABU<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to him, the former official is to spend the night in a temporary detention centre.<\/p>\n

At the same time, this information requires an important clarification: As of the time of publication, the NABU and the SAP had not officially announced Mudra\u2019s arrest or the serving of a notice of suspicion on her<\/strong>. Therefore, we are currently referring to the information made public by the Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

What is known about the \u00abForrest Gump\u00bb case?\u00bb<\/h2>\n

Operation \u00abForrest Gump\u00bb concerns the origin and legalisation of 150 million hryvnias, which, according to the investigation, were used to post bail for one of the individuals implicated in another anti-corruption investigation \u2014 the \u00abMidas\u00bb case.<\/p>\n

The media have linked these funds to a bail payment for the former Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is investigating the flow of funds through various companies and transactions involving a state-owned bank.<\/p>\n

During the course of the investigation, the anti-corruption authorities also seized documents relating to the communications strategy concerning the work of the Verkhovna Rada\u2019s Temporary Investigation Commission.<\/p>\n
