On the morning of 20 August, Russian forces launched a massive strike on the Kyiv region. Boryspil and the Boryspil district came under attack from cruise missiles. A major fire broke out following the strike, and thick smoke rose over the city and its surroundings. According to local and monitoring channels, Russia used cruise missiles during the attack. In particular, there were reports of X-101 missiles heading towards the Kyiv region. Kyiv, Boryspil and Brovary were targeted.<\/p>\n

A large-scale fire has broken out following an attack in the Boryspil area. A column of thick smoke can be seen from a considerable distance. Emergency services are on the scene, and details of the full extent of the damage are being ascertained.<\/p>\n

Boryspil came under rocket attack<\/h2>\n

During the air raid alert, reports were received of cruise missiles flying over the Kyiv region. According to the latest reports, some of the targets were heading towards the Boryspil area.<\/p>\n

At the same time, at this stage there is no complete official information regarding the number of missiles that directly struck the Boryspil district, nor regarding the number of hits. These figures therefore need to be clarified following reports from the Air Force and local authorities.<\/p>\n

Local residents reported heavy smoke following the attack. Footage from the Kyiv region shows a large fire and a massive plume of smoke. Reports of a major blaze following the morning attack also appeared in the Ukrainian media.<\/p>\n

The relevant emergency services are at the scene of the fire. Details of exactly which building has been affected are currently being clarified.<\/p>\n

Similarly, there is as yet no confirmed information regarding any possible fatalities or injuries in Boryspil and the Boryspil district specifically as a result of this attack.<\/p>\n

The Russian attack<\/a> was part of a large-scale attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region. In the capital, strikes and falling debris were also reported, and fires broke out and damage was caused.<\/p>\n

The consequences of the attack are being clarified<\/h2>\n

Rescue workers and other emergency services are continuing to deal with the aftermath of the Russian shelling. The full extent of the damage will become clear once the initial work has been completed and the affected areas have been assessed.<\/p>\n
