A major fire broke out at the site. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties or injuries amongst the staff, but the oil depot is no longer operational following the strike.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Russia attacked the KLO oil depot in the Kyiv region.<\/li>\n<li>A major fire broke out at the site.<\/li>\n<li>There were no casualties; the oil depot has ceased operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1qrh00c\" data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"456\">The KLO oil depot in the Kyiv region has ceased operations following an attack<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"684\">On the night of 20 August, Russia carried out a large-scale <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/viyna\/ataka-rf-kyivshchyna-zhertvy-ruynuvannya\/\">a combined attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region<\/a> using missiles and attack drones. One of the fuel infrastructure targets hit was the KLO oil depot in the Brovary district.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"686\" data-end=\"893\">A major fire broke out on the site following the strike. Footage from the scene shows the base\u2019s storage tanks and infrastructure engulfed in flames, with thick plumes of black smoke rising above the area.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"895\" data-end=\"1103\">According to the information currently available, <strong data-start=\"933\" data-end=\"993\">None of the oil depot\u2019s staff have been killed or injured<\/strong>. At the same time, the facility sustained serious damage and ceased to function.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"9khapd\" data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1156\">KLO had already lost an oil depot as a result of a Russian attack<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1297\">For the network <span class=\"contents\" data-content-reference-start=\"1135\" data-content-reference-end=\"1157\"><span class=\"\" data-state=\"closed\">KLO<\/span><\/span> This is not the first major loss of fuel infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1665\">On 27 February 2022, a Russian missile struck the KLO oil depot near Vasylkiv. The company reported at the time that the depot had been destroyed. According to figures subsequently provided by KLO co-owner Vyacheslav Steshenko, the depot suffered losses of around <strong data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1558\">20,000 tonnes of light petroleum products<\/strong>, and the facility itself was one of the most modern oil depots in the Kyiv region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1667\" data-end=\"1844\">Following that attack, the company began to decentralise the storage of its fuel reserves precisely because of the constant threat of further Russian missile strikes.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"80rwu0\" data-start=\"1846\" data-end=\"1885\">Russia is attacking infrastructure in the Kyiv region<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1887\" data-end=\"2081\">The strike on the oil depot was part of a large-scale attack on the Kyiv region on 20 August. Throughout the night and into the morning, damage to residential, warehouse, transport and other infrastructure was reported across the region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2083\" data-end=\"2371\">Attacks on fuel and logistics facilities pose additional risks to the supply and storage of fuel. At the same time, the very fact that a single oil depot has been lost <strong data-start=\"2233\" data-end=\"2291\">does not necessarily mean that there is a fuel shortage in the Kyiv region<\/strong> \u2014 To reach such a conclusion, data on stocks, logistics and the condition of other storage facilities is required.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2373\" data-end=\"2444\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The consequences of the strike on the KLO facility and the extent of the damage caused are currently being
