Construction of the base has been underway since the end of 2023. It is likely to become the base for the 37th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Belarusian Special Operations Forces.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Infrastructure is being built at the site to receive military convoys.<\/li>\n<li>The track will be able to accommodate up to 60 carriages.<\/li>\n<li>The platform with a ramp is designed for heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles.<\/li>\n<li>The 37th Brigade is scheduled to be relocated to the Gomel area by 2027.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Track and ramp for unloading trains<\/h2>\n<p>The project includes a separate access track designed to accommodate 60 carriages and a loading bay with a ramp. These are intended to facilitate the unloading of wheeled and tracked vehicles directly from military trains.<\/p>\n<p>Such infrastructure could strengthen Belarus\u2019s long-term capabilities to receive, deploy and support units in the southern sector. At the same time, the construction of the facility itself does not imply the formation of a force ready for immediate action.<\/p>\n<h2>The base is linked to the new airborne assault brigade<\/h2>\n<p>According to reports in the Belarusian media, the 37th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Belarusian Special Operations Forces is likely to be deployed at the new base. The formation of the brigade was publicly confirmed on 2 August by the commander of the Special Operations Forces <strong>Oleksandr Ilyukevych<\/strong>; the brigade is scheduled to be transferred to its permanent base near Gomel by 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus\u2019s State Investment Programme has extended funding for the military town and training ground in the Gomel Region until 2028.
