On the morning of 28 August, Russian troops struck a shopping centre in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack was reported by the mayor, Ihor Terekhov. According to preliminary reports from local sources, the target was the large \u00abKaravan\u00bb shopping centre in Saltivka. Details regarding possible casualties and the extent of the damage are currently being verified.<\/p>\n

What is known about the \u00abKaravan\u00bb shopping centre in Kharkiv<\/h2>\n

The \u00abKaravan\u00bb shopping centre in Kharkiv is situated on 7 Heroes of Labour Street<\/strong> in the Kyiv district.<\/p>\n

According to the complex\u2019s official website, its the total area is approximately 84,000 square metres<\/strong>. The shopping centre opened in December 2006. The complex comprised over 200 retail outlets, a food and a furniture hypermarket, as well as entertainment areas.<\/p>\n

\u00abKaravan\u00bb is one of the largest shopping and leisure centres in this part of Kharkiv.<\/p>\n

This area has already been hit by Russian strikes on several occasions. In particular, in December 2024, a Russian UAV struck the roof of a shopping centre in the Kyivskyi district, which was closed at the time; local sources also identified the building as \u00abKaravan\u00bb at the time.<\/p>\n

Second strike on a shopping centre in Kharkiv in two days<\/h2>\n

A new attack has taken place a second Russian strike on a major shopping centre in Kharkiv in less than 24 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

27 August: a Russian jet-powered drone \u00abGeran-4 Siker\u00bb<\/strong> attacked the \u00abEpicentre<\/a>\u00bb in the Osnovyanskyi district of the city. A man was killed and five other people were injured as a result of the strike.<\/p>\n

The building sustained partial damage; a fire broke out following the impact, covering an area of approximately 300 square metres<\/strong>. The victim and those injured were in the shopping centre at the time of the attack.<\/p>\n

The Russian army thus attacked two civilian commercial premises in different parts of Kharkiv over the course of two days.<\/p>\n

The consequences of the latest attack are being assessed<\/h2>\n

The relevant services are currently working at the scene of the attack on 28 August. As yet, there are no official details regarding the type of weapon used, the extent of the damage or any possible casualties.<\/p>\n
