He described this as a deliberate political decision and stated that he did not want the post of Prosecutor General to be used as a tool in political confrontation. At the same time, Kravchenko emphasised that his position regarding the allegations arising from the NABU and SAPO \u00abCarthage\u00bb case had not changed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\">\n<p><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ruslan Kravchenko has submitted his resignation from the post of Attorney General.<\/li>\n<li>He described his decision as political and deliberate.<\/li>\n<li>Kravchenko stated that he did not wish to use his position in political disputes.<\/li>\n<li>His position on the charges in the \u00abCarthage\u00bb case remains unchanged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-section-id=\"i569sq\" data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1181\">Kravchenko has handed in his resignation<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1272\">On his decision <strong>Ruslan Kravchenko<\/strong> he announced late in the evening on 7 September on his social media accounts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1353\">He stated that he had made a conscious decision to resign and described it as a political one.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1355\" data-end=\"1477\">\n<p data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1477\">\u00abI do not want the post of Attorney General to be used as a tool in political wrangling,\u00bb said Kravchenko.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1608\">He also emphasised that <strong data-start=\"1504\" data-end=\"1569\">his stance on the allegations remains unchanged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1791\">Kravchenko thanked the staff of the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office who support the prosecution in court, work with victims, document Russian war crimes and represent the interests of the state.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1793\" data-end=\"1950\">He also thanked the president <strong>To Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/strong> and thanked the Verkhovna Rada for its trust and asked it to accept his resignation.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"clapku\" data-start=\"1952\" data-end=\"2003\">Earlier that day, Kravchenko had stated that he had no intention of leaving<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2095\">It is worth noting that just a few hours before the resignation was announced, the Prosecutor General\u2019s position was different.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2097\" data-end=\"2219\">During a meeting with journalists on the afternoon of 7 September, Kravchenko stated that <strong data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2218\">does not intend to write a letter of resignation himself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2221\" data-end=\"2414\">At the same time, he emphasised that he was not clinging to his post and was prepared to accept any decision by the President or the Verkhovna Rada regarding his continued tenure in office.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2416\" data-end=\"2714\">Later that evening, *Ukrainska Pravda*, citing sources, reported on a meeting between Zelenskyy, Kravchenko and the leader of the *Servant of the People* parliamentary group\u00ab <strong>David Arahamia<\/strong>. According to the publication, the meeting was intended to decide the future of the Prosecutor General.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2716\" data-end=\"2791\">A short time later, Kravchenko publicly announced that he had submitted his resignation.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1b62pnd\" data-start=\"2793\" data-end=\"2843\">The resignation comes against the backdrop of the \u00abCarthage\u00bb case\u00bb<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2845\" data-end=\"2984\">In recent days, Kravchenko has found himself at the centre of political and media <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/politics\/ohp-dii-nabu-vidstoronennia\/\">scandal<\/a> as a result of a special operation by the NABU and the SAPO entitled <strong data-start=\"2969\" data-end=\"2983\">\u00abCarthage\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2986\" data-end=\"3243\">Anti-corruption authorities are investigating the activities of a suspected criminal organisation, whose members are suspected of receiving undue benefits in return for not interfering with the operations of fraudulent call centres and for laundering the proceeds.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3245\" data-end=\"3499\">As part of the case, recordings of conversations between those involved were leaked to the public, in which an unnamed \u00abboss\u00bb was mentioned. Some media outlets speculated that this might have referred to Kravchenko, although he had not been officially designated as such.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3501\" data-end=\"3616\">Kravchenko himself categorically denied any involvement in covering up illegal call centres or receiving funds from them.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"o3ip4o\" data-start=\"3618\" data-end=\"3666\">Kravchenko stated that he had no standing in the case<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3668\" data-end=\"3788\">Earlier that day, on 7 September, the Director of Public Prosecutions told journalists that <strong data-start=\"3726\" data-end=\"3787\">has no procedural status whatsoever in the \u00abCarthage\u00bb case\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3790\" data-end=\"3886\">He also described the situation around him as political pressure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3888\" data-end=\"4178\">Kravchenko denied the allegations regarding the possible receipt or laundering of money from illegal call centres, and also provided explanations regarding the rented house, the renovation work, the family\u2019s expenses and other circumstances discussed in the published materials.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4180\" data-end=\"4472\">At the same time, he stated that the Office of the Prosecutor General was investigating a number of staff members linked to those implicated in the case. It was planned to refer the cases of seven prosecutors to the Prosecutors\u2019 Qualification and Disciplinary Commission to consider their possible dismissal.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"cb4x3y\" data-start=\"4474\" data-end=\"4521\">Submitting an application does not automatically mean dismissal<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4523\" data-end=\"4612\">The fact that Kravchenko submitted his resignation does not mean that he has automatically ceased to exercise his powers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4614\" data-end=\"4961\">Under the Constitution of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General <strong data-start=\"4661\" data-end=\"4708\">is dismissed by the President with the consent of the Verkhovna Rada<\/strong>. The Law \u00abOn the Prosecutor\u2019s Office\u00bb expressly provides for the possibility of early dismissal following the submission of a resignation. The President must then submit a request to Parliament for consent to the dismissal.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4963\" data-end=\"5216\">Kravchenko took charge of the Office of the Prosecutor General in June 2025. The Verkhovna Rada approved his appointment on 17 June. Prior to this, he had headed the State Tax Service and the Kyiv Regional State Administration.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5218\" data-end=\"5341\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The final decision on his dismissal must now be formalised by the President and the Verkhovna Rada in accordance with the established
