This was stated by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius on 8 September during a meeting of the Contact Group on Defence Issues in Ukraine, held in the \u00abRamstein\u00bb format. The ammunition will be handed over <strong data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"610\">directly from the Bundeswehr\u2019s stocks<\/strong>. The number of missiles has not been publicly disclosed. Pistorius emphasised that Ukraine\u2019s preparations for winter are currently one of the allies\u2019 top priorities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-summary-box\"><strong>Briefly about the main points<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Germany is to supply Ukraine with PAC-2 missiles for the Patriot system.<\/li>\n<li>They will be taken from the Bundeswehr\u2019s stocks.<\/li>\n<li>Berlin will also increase its supplies of AIM-9 missiles.<\/li>\n<li>Deliveries of IRIS-T systems and missiles will continue.<\/li>\n<li>Pistorius called on allies to also provide missiles from their own stocks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-section-id=\"10sxur4\" data-start=\"1185\" data-end=\"1241\">PAC-2 missiles will be transferred to Ukraine from Bundeswehr depots<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1384\">Pistorius stated that the decision to make an urgent delivery had been taken in view of the need to strengthen Ukraine\u2019s air defence ahead of the winter season.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1386\" data-end=\"1537\">According to him, the allies must act swiftly, as Russia continues to carry out large-scale missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1655\">\n<p data-start=\"1541\" data-end=\"1655\">\u00abUkraine\u2019s preparations for winter are a top priority and require us to take decisive and immediate action,\u00bb said Pistorius.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1657\" data-end=\"2030\">The minister also appealed to the other participants in the \u00abRamstein\u00bb exercise, calling on them to <strong data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1823\">to check its own stocks of interceptors and, where possible, to make similar deliveries to Ukraine<\/strong>. He acknowledged that the allies have to strike a balance between their own defence needs and providing assistance to Kyiv, but urged them to decide in Ukraine\u2019s favour whenever in doubt.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"qhn0rv\" data-start=\"2032\" data-end=\"2090\">Germany will increase deliveries of AIM-9 missiles and continue with the IRIS-T programme<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2092\" data-end=\"2130\">The aid will not be limited to PAC-2 missiles.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2132\" data-end=\"2349\">Pistorius said that Germany <strong data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2264\">will increase regular supplies of AIM-9 air-to-air missiles to Ukraine from the Bundeswehr\u2019s stocks<\/strong>. Some of this ammunition is already on its way to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2440\">Berlin will also continue to supply <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/economics\/nimechchyna-iris-t-udarny-drony-ukrayina\/\">air defence systems<\/a> <strong data-start=\"2403\" data-end=\"2439\">IRIS-T and guided missiles for them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2442\" data-end=\"2663\">According to the German minister, Ukraine plans to place an additional order for <strong data-start=\"2508\" data-end=\"2537\">several thousand IRIS-T missiles<\/strong>, the funding for which is to be provided through a European Union defence loan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2665\" data-end=\"2957\">Germany remains one of the key suppliers of Ukrainian air defence systems. Berlin and Kyiv had previously agreed on the supply of <strong data-start=\"2809\" data-end=\"2872\">several hundred Patriot PAC-2 missiles over the coming years<\/strong>, as well as the further expansion of the IRIS-T fleet.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1r41f7h\" data-start=\"2959\" data-end=\"3014\">Ukraine is asking for more Patriot missiles ahead of winter<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3016\" data-end=\"3099\">Berlin\u2019s new decision was announced against the backdrop of a sharp escalation in Russian air strikes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3101\" data-end=\"3487\">On the night of 8 September, Russia carried out a large-scale combined <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrmedia.news\/en\/main-news\/zelenskyi-ataka-rf-potreba-ppo\/\">the attack on Ukraine<\/a> using attack drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. In Kyiv, people were killed and residential buildings, a school, a medical facility and the offices of a television channel were damaged. Following the attack, the Ukrainian authorities once again called on their partners to speed up the delivery of interceptor missiles.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3489\" data-end=\"3817\">Just the day before \u00abRamstein\u00bb, Ukraine convened an extraordinary meeting of the Ukraine\u2013NATO Council and presented the following to its allies <strong data-start=\"3600\" data-end=\"3680\">a list of the most urgent requirements for air and missile defence<\/strong>. Kyiv has emphasised that the speed of deliveries may now be even more important than their total volume.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1pgqvyx\" data-start=\"3819\" data-end=\"3868\">Berlin is also expanding its cooperation in the field of drones<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3870\" data-end=\"3940\">At the same time, Germany is stepping up its support for Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3942\" data-end=\"4247\">In early September, Kyiv and Berlin were finalising a major agreement on <strong data-start=\"4017\" data-end=\"4094\">the joint development and production of drones, missiles and software<\/strong>. Among the projects already underway is the funding of tens of thousands of Ukrainian strike and interceptor drones.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4249\" data-end=\"4436\">Germany had previously also allocated substantial funds for the development of Ukrainian <strong data-start=\"4318\" data-end=\"4360\">deep-strike and mid-strike capabilities<\/strong>, air defence and joint defence production.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4438\" data-end=\"4659\">The new PAC-2 package is therefore part of Berlin\u2019s broader strategy: to simultaneously supply Ukraine with missiles for its existing air defence systems and
